Taking on the challenge, Digitalizing Information Security

Taking on the Challenge

Like many other regions and municipalities, Region Västernorrland had handled their classification of information using Klassa. Whilst working with change management, the region realized the importance and benefits of an IT support system to properly manage their Information Security Management System (ISMS). The system had to be flexible and user friendly so it could be used without external support. One requirement was that the support system could be set up in their internal IT environment. A second requirement was that the new support system has to reflect the tasks that need to be addressed as per implemented ISMS.

Benefits

“The iFACTS product proposition is modular, you can start small and grow… The software simplifies the work and the region estimates that it can reduce time spent on information classification with up to 80%. Beyond this, requirements can now be much more specific to our organization.”

-Mårten Frosth, CISO and Deputy Chief of Security Protection, Region Västernorrland.

iFACTS solution

iFACTS software solution is modular and can be installed both on premise or offered as a cloud service. Working from a customer centric perspective, iFACTS software uses configurable portals giving a fully customizable solution, tailored for each customer’s context. It is possible to implement access permissions for different users and/or user groups. iFACTS software offers two factor authentication with open API:s, which made it simple to integrate the software into the Region´s IT-infrastructure. During the entire implementation iFACTS supported the customer to ensure a smooth process.

Background

Region Västernorrland started their transformation journey in conjunction with an overview of their management system. Taking two years, the project resulted in new comprehensive requirements within the organization, which identified the need for a support system to simplify and improve the risk management process. The region’s CISO then researched and evaluated different available vendors with a clear vision on what criterias that needed to be fulfilled.

Customer

Region Västernorrland is Sweden’s 6th biggest region per area with approximately 250 000 residents. The region is of strategic importance for the Swedish armed forces and is also a part of one of the largest infrastructure projects in Sweden, the Botnia line. The region has a flourishing tourism industry offering visitors beautiful landscapes. Here you can also find, considered by some, one of the best whiskey distilleries in Scandinavia.
